The 4C's

In our class meeting this week we talk about the 4C's and how this model can help better our students' education. The 4C's consist of communication- sharing thoughts, questions, ideas, and solutions; collaboration- working together to reach a goal, putting talent, expertise, and smarts to work; critical thinking- looking at problems in a new way, linking learning across subjects and disciplines; creativity- trying new approaches to get things done equals innovation and invention. In order to test this theory out,we were put into small groups (2-3 people) and instructed to making any creation with Play-do by only using one hand. During this little exercise, we had to use communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. All of the 4C's came into play because we all need to be on the same page when creating our masterpiece so that we each were not doing our own thing. Also we each needed to be creative because no wanted to make the same thing as another, even though some groups did create the same thing each were unique in their own ways. I will definitely use this exercise in the future with my students.
