Technology is changing education

Technology is forever changing in the world today. These changes like it or not will effect our students in their personal and educational experiences either positive or negatively. Some of the positive effects that technology has on education are that our students get to learn in new and advanced ways, having the ability to get information in the matter of seconds, and gives students the opportunity to get tutoring at the drop of a hat. These advancements allow students to learn through the use of different websites such as Quizlet, Kahoot, Kahn academy,YouTube; which give them a change of pace and allows students to have fun while learning. Also through the advancements in technology our students are able to learn on their own outside the classroom through the usage of how to videos, web-seminars, and social media being able to connect with different educators and their fellow peers. On the hand technology can have a negative effect on our students education. Even though students can have information in a few seconds, they can be overload with too much information that may not be adequate, real because in today's society anyone can put whatever they want on the internet. This cause our students to believe anything that they read and may not fully understand what is the correct/best answer for the questions they might have. Another negative effect of technology on education is that students are becoming more accustom to using technology such as Ipads, Iphone etc., which then causes them to become dependent on others rather than their own knowledge and abilities. Technology can be used inside the classroom, but in moderation. We as educators need to make sure that our students receive the best education as possible, but not reliant on technology to do all of the work.

  1. Being able to have continuing education outside of the classroom is huge and with technology students are able to take that home with them. Great point on this! Finding ways to keep the students from getting distracted is also important as young minds can wander fast. I like how you addressed this as well!
